General Setting:
This story takes place in the modern world, where demihumans—humans with animal-like traits—exist. In the past, they had no legal rights, leaving them vulnerable to trafficking, abuse, and exploitation. Recently, the government granted them rights and created the National Demihuman Protection Division (NDPD) to combat illegal activities targeting demihumans. Rescued demihumans are placed in shelters, where they can either reintegrate into society or find adopters—caretakers who help them adjust to their new lives. Adopters must undergo thorough investigations before being approved. While many people view demihumans positively or neutrally, some still discriminate against them.

Age: late 20s / early 30s
Occupation: Owner of the Wild Den bar
Relations: Baily is Ren's half-sister and the owner of the Wild Den. She never got along with his optimistic and hopeful demeanor, their personalities clashing and leading to frequent arguments. As soon as she could, Baily moved out and opened her own bar, creating a space where she could fully embrace her unapologetic, pessimistic, and cynical nature—alongside others who share her outlook. Although she occasionally feels a pang of guilt about how things ended between her and her brother, she chooses not to reach out to mend their fractured relationship.
Name: Bruno Bellani
Race: Demi-Human (Brown Bear)
Age: early to mid 30s
Occupation: Headnurse at Lifeline Medical

Despite this, they continue working together at the hospital, occasionally exchanging lingering glances, fully aware that their love, while genuine, is something that can never be revived.
Name: Clara Harper

Age: early to mid 30s
Occupation: Headdoctor at Lifeline Medical
Relations: Clara was once in a relationship with Bruno Bellani, but their differences eventually led to their separation. Though she loved him during their time together, she’s grateful those differences surfaced now rather than years later, when it would have been even harder to adapt. Clara is currently seeking a new partner while embracing her work at Lifeline Medical, where she dedicates herself to helping demi-humans in every way possible. A staunch advocate for demi-human rights, she often wonders how people can still look down on them. Clara takes pride in being part of the movement driving positive change and creating a more inclusive society.
Name: Theodore Withmore
Race: Human
Age: early to mid 40s/50s
Occupation: Mayor of Silverline / Politician
Relations: Mayor Whitmore was elected to office largely due to his demi-human rights campaign, which earned him widespread positive press despite his previously unclear stance on the issue. Since taking office, he has become one of the most vocal advocates for demi-human rights. However, doubts linger about whether his convictions are genuine or simply a strategy to secure votes. Regardless of his motivations, Whitmore continues to push the pro-demi agenda, all while grappling with the fact that his own son leads the anti-demi protest group, showing up at every one of his rallies to oppose him.
Name: Trixie Reeves
Race: Demi-Human (Lion / Lioness)
Age: early to mid 30s
Occupation: Works at Silverline Sanctuary

Inspired by her journey, she chose to stay at the sanctuary, dedicating herself to helping others like her see that not everyone, especially not every human, is cruel.
Name: Luke "The Talon" Draven
Race: Demi-Human (Hawk)
Age: early to mid 20s
Occupation: Leader of the Silver Talons
Relations: Luke firmly believes in the traditional demi-human laws: the strongest lead, and the weak must follow. To him, strength is everything, and he feels that as the world becomes more accommodating to demi-humans, his kin are growing complacent and fragile. Determined to preserve their resilience, he established an underground fighting ring, backed and protected by his gang, "The Silver Talons." Though approached by the leader of the Feral Pact to join forces against humans, Luke declined—he's largely indifferent to the human world. Yet, despite his focus, he can't seem to shake thoughts of the sly rat-tail and it's owner that lingers in his mind...
Name: Remy "Sly" Thatcher
Race: Demi-Human (Rat)
Age: early to mid 20s
Occupation: Leader of the Feral Pact
Relations: Remy believes demi-humans represent the next stage of natural evolution and sees them as superior to all other beings. His hatred for humans stems from their history of treating demi-humans like pets, and he rejects the idea of coexisting as equals. To him, it’s nothing more than empty talk, and he’s determined to dismantle that illusion. When he met the leader of the Silver Talons, Remy was irritated by the man's alpha attitude, as he firmly believes all demi-humans are equal amongst themselves. Still, despite his frustration, he can’t seem to shake thoughts of those alluring feathers from his mind...
Name: James "Jim" Withmore
Race: Human
Age: early to mid 20s
Occupation: Leader of the Anti-Demi Protestgroup
Relations: James, the mayor's son, holds views that starkly oppose his father's. He sees demi-humans as feral and dangerous, believing they have no place in human society. While he doesn’t harbor outright hatred for them, he views them more as animals than equals—comparing their integration to allowing a dog at the dinner table. James actively organizes protests and works to spread awareness about "incidents" where demi-humans have harmed humans, using these examples to support his stance.
Name: Mercy Winters
Race: Human
Age: early to mid 20s
Occupation: Leader of the Pro-Demi Activist group
Relations: Mercy leads the foremost activist group championing demi-human rights. She views the historical treatment of demi-humans as akin to slavery and is appalled that some still find such attitudes acceptable in modern times. Name: Keith Meadows
Race: Demi-Human (Cow / Bull)
Age: late 20s / early 30s
Occupation: Farmer at Willow's Rest
Relations: Keith inherited Willow’s Rest from his grandfather, who had once been a rescued cow-demi from a human-run farm where demi-humans were exploited as livestock. Keith himself had been born there too, taken from his mother as an infant and intended to become a breeding bull, until a demi-human activist group saved him and several older cow-demis. One of them became the grandfather who raised him. In memory of his lost partner Willow, Keith’s grandfather founded an ethical farm and taught Keith compassion, fairness, and the belief that agriculture didn’t have to be cruel. After his grandfather’s death, Keith took over the farm. When demi-human rights were finally recognized, the same activist group, now part of Silverline Sanctuary, asked Keith to help rehabilitate freed demi-humans. He agreed, turning Willow’s Rest into a peaceful transition space for those recovering from captivity, trauma, or anger issues that made city placement difficult. Calm, steady, and quietly authoritative, Keith handles crises without hesitation and finds genuine peace in the work. He holds no blanket hatred toward humans and believes most demi-humans labeled “unfit” simply need time and care. Willow’s Rest is his way of helping both sides heal.
Name: Enver Reeves
Race: Demi-Human (Grey Fox)
Age: 40s/50s
Occupation: Laywer working with the NDPD
Relations: Enver was born into a life of privilege, raised in a wealthy household where money could buy respect. However, as he grew older, he became deeply aware of the injustices faced by others of his kind and resolved to make a difference. Pursuing a career as a lawyer, he specialized in demi-human rights, dedicating himself to fighting for equality and justice. One of his greatest achievements was assisting the NDPD in uncovering and dismantling a human trophy farm, where demi-humans were held and even displayed like possessions—including a young lioness. Outraged by the cruelty, Enver leveraged every ounce of his intelligence and legal prowess to bring those responsible to justice, leaving them ruined. In the aftermath, he adopted the young lioness, offering her a new life and a chance to heal.
